In the summer of 2004 a former local independent bookseller decided to re-invent himself in his community as a house painter. Leaving the book business and becoming a house painter was a difficult undertaking. Where once the bookseller filled his day with unpacking boxes and helping customers find that next great novel, now the painter filled his day with choosing paint brands and measuring houses. It took significant adjustments, and required sympathetic help that understood his circumstances. So Rick, the erstwhile painter, grabbed his son Grif for a helpmate, and started the fated career by painting wrought iron railings at a local apartment complex in the heat of the summer sun. The work was nasty, hot, and exhausting. The father and son team made it through, got paid, and went on to new, grander projects, eventually dragging the wife in – Donna - kicking and screaming, to run the office.

Morgenstern Home Services (MHS) has, over the course of several years, grown to be a stable local business in Bloomington, Indiana, employing a dedicated staff of skilled craftsmen in the building trades. We strive to deliver the best possible experience to any home owner who trusts us enough to hire us for their upcoming project. We pride ourselves on offering some important things: honesty, integrity, quality, forthrightness, civility, perseverance, and high ethics.

These are just a few of the projects we’ve taken on and successfully completed, leaving the renovated space much nicer than before we began. They represent a sampling of the kind of work we do. We take on a multitude of projects because our desire is to build long-term relationships with a core group of customers, most of whom have wide and ever changing needs.
